Andy's Laws of Life

In random order:

  1. Nothing is hard, but few things are truly easy.
  2. It is unfair, but appearances do matter and people will judge you on how you look.
  3. Do what you want, but remember that you will be held accountable for all that you do.
  4. Guard your health. In the end, that's all you have.
  5. In many instances, success comes not from creating a plan, but rather from being able to improvise a solution when things do not go according to plan.
  6. Trying to prevent the inevitable is both futile and hugely wasteful.
  7. Demand perfection.
  8. No one cares about what you've done in the past -- they want to know what you can do for them in the present.
  9. Realize that most decisions are driven by economics.
COROLLARY: Money is made by solving problems in a way that few others can.
  10. Be someone who does. The world has enough people who talk.
  11. Unless you truly have limited aspirations, there will always be more work to do so go home.
  12. Always, always, always take the road less traveled by.
  13. Do the things that scare you.
  14. Always think for yourself because the crowd is often wrong.
  15. Be educated and no one will ever own you.
  16. Always have ideas because the distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.
  17. Unlike school, life is about asking the right questions, not giving the right answers.
  18. A job that has you so tightly around the balls/ovaries that you're afraid to say "no" is a job that is not worth having.
  19. A slim chance of success always beats no chance of success.

More as I think of them...
