About Me
Hi, My name is Andy, and I just graduated with my JD from the law school at Santa Clara University in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am, of course, happy to be done, but am now faced with the ever joyful task for finding a job in this oh-so-fabulous economy.
Thanks to planning that was more-or-less careful, I graduated with relatively little debt so I'm not in a desperate hurry to grab the first job that comes along. One of the many, many, many things I've learned in life is that grasping at anything out of desperation (a job, a spouse, an apartment, etc) rarely leads to happiness for any of the parties involved. If I find a job where everything fits, then that'll be that. But if I don't, then I am not without the resources to do my own thing.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, which essentially means that I'm not floored by $3 a gallon gas or teeny-tiny homes that sell for $800,000. It also means that as an Asian guy I was, sigh, destined to become an engineer. (There are some downsides, but there are tremendous upsides too, like being able to do all sorts of math without a calculator and fix everything myself. Hahaha) I went to Berkeley and majored in both Chemical Engineering and Materials Science since I was attracted to both and couldn't pick just one. I graduated in 2000 and worked for a number of incredibly boring years as a manufacturing engineer in the telecommunications industry, all the while convinced in my core that I was destined for something more.
That conviction stems from a variety of things: my inherent pig-headed stubbornness, being the first in my family to grow up in the United States, as well as a healthy dose of youthful idealism. I thought that that last one would fade as I got older, but it hasn't yet. Here's hoping it never does.
My hobbies are varied and include riding my motorcycle and lifting weights (makes it easier to heave a motorcycle around). I'm also a bit (HAHA!) of a gadget freak which, when combined with an engineering degree, means that I won't bat at eye at voiding the warranty on an electric doodad of mine that has either stopped working (like my piece-o-crap iPod mini) or that could be made better (like my computer, laptop, car, motorcycle, TIVO, etc).

Anyway, thanks for visiting. Drop me a line if you want via the contact link at the left. Make sure you take a postcard.
(Oh, almost forgot. You'll see rather quickly this site isn't terribly sophisticated - mostly HTML, some Java, the occasional embedded Youtube video -- but hopefully it does the job. Could I put more fancy-shmancy modern stuff in? Sure, but for this site's purposes and the relative infrequency with which I make updates, I don't see the benefits that come from the added cost and complexity.)
